Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Analyst to join our Public Health Intelligence (PHI) team at Wiltshire Council. As a Public Health Analyst, you will play a crucial role in improving health outcomes, increasing life expectancy, and reducing health inequalities in Wiltshire.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing analysis for the Public Health team, including producing briefings on national data publications and supporting performance monitoring and evaluations of services delivered by Wiltshire Council.
  • Responding to information requests from the public, council staff, and partner organisations, and providing urgent analysis in the event of an incident or outbreak.
  • Leading on analytical projects to identify the health needs of our population, including managing and leading a small team of council or partner organisation staff.
  • Ensuring strict information governance guidance is adhered to, files are stored securely, and electronic exchange is completed securely.
  • Creating and maintaining links within the council, local NHS organisations, and other statutory, voluntary, and academic institutions necessary to further the public health intelligence function.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or equivalent experience/skills working in information management and analysis.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Experience of working within information governance and data security guidelines.
  • Advanced Excel skills and expert knowledge in a range of software packages relating to data management/manipulation.
  • Statistical test experience, including t-tests and correlation tests.
  • Experience in Public Health, NHS, or local authorities.
