About the Team
The Public Law and Regulatory team is a leading entity in the health, social care, and local government domains, and is actively expanding its influence and clientele in financial services, commercial, and higher education sectors. This team operates within the Litigation, Advisory & Regulatory department, handling significant commercial, regulatory, and public law disputes. They primarily represent public entities such as local authorities, health trusts, regulators, oversight bodies, and statutory organizations, as well as higher education institutions and corporate entities, including private and charitable providers of public services.
By joining this dynamic team, you will have the chance to collaborate with key strategic clients and a variety of partner leads and colleagues across several critical sectors, while managing your own caseload. The nature of the clientele means that the cases often intersect with current socio-economic or political matters, frequently presenting novel challenges. This aspect of the work is highly fulfilling, as the firm has established strong, trusted relationships with clients who genuinely appreciate the support provided.

About the Role
The firm is seeking a solicitor (3-5PQE) to join their vibrant litigation, advisory, and regulatory team, serving a diverse range of public and private sector clients across various industries. The focus of this role will be on regulatory and public law matters. The successful applicant will engage in:
- Providing counsel to regulatory bodies across sectors, including financial services and professional discipline, regarding the exercise of their regulatory powers, including managing appeals and public law challenges.
- Advising ombudsman schemes on decision-making processes and addressing complaints and challenges.
- Consulting with public service providers, commissioners, and regulators on their decision-making processes, including the potential for judicial review.
- Managing judicial review claims in the High Court and appellate courts.
- Assisting clients in responding to regulatory interventions.
- Supporting clients in public inquiries, including guidance on disclosure obligations and responses to requests.
