Job Summary

The South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Nurse to join our dynamic Adult Learning Disability Community Health Team in Barnsley. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering safe and effective nursing practice across the community pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Leadership
    • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the nursing team, ensuring high-quality care and services are delivered to service users.
    • Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to ensure best practice and compliance with relevant legislation.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care and services are delivered to service users.
  • Service Development
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of service plans and strategies to improve the quality of care and services delivered to service users.
    • Work with the team to identify areas for improvement and develop solutions to address these.
    • Ensure that the nursing team is aware of and adheres to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Staff Management
    • Provide supervision and support to nursing staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care and services.
    • Contribute to the recruitment and selection process for nursing staff, ensuring the best candidates are appointed.
    • Develop and implement training programs to ensure nursing staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care and services.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with other healthcare professionals, service users, and their families.
    • Ensure that communication is clear, concise, and respectful, and that all parties are informed and involved in decision-making.
    • Collaborate with other teams and services to ensure seamless care and services are delivered to service users.
Requirements
  • Qualifications and Experience
    • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
    • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field (e.g., MSc, PG Dip).
    • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a community health setting.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Excellent clinical leadership and management skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies (e.g., Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act 1983).
    • Understanding of the specific health needs of people with a learning disability.
