We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions for students, focusing on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and self-care techniques.
- Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
- Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers regarding this.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
- Support teachers in managing the behavior and specialist needs of students.
- GCSE's/ Level 2 Equivalent in Mathematics.
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
- Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding and ability to respond to such concerns effectively and efficiently.
This role will involve working with students from the primary sector with moderate learning difficulties and ADHD. The working hours will be term-time, from 08:30 – 15:30. We are looking for part-time applicants, but full-time applicants will also be considered based on merit.
