Position Overview

The Cleaning Team is dedicated to ensuring a hygienic and secure atmosphere for our patients, visitors, and staff, adhering to the highest standards of cleanliness in accordance with National Cleaning Standards, infection prevention protocols, and health and safety regulations.

The individual in this role will collaborate with the broader Cleaning Team, delivering a cohesive and adaptable service. As such, there may be occasions where responsibilities extend to other sectors within the Hotel Services Department based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold the established standards of cleaning services by following the appropriate procedures and schedules.
  • Execute a range of cleaning tasks in accordance with the designated cleaning schedules for specific wards/areas/locations.
  • Utilize mechanical cleaning equipment effectively.
  • Restock disposables and consumables as necessary.
  • Store cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly.
  • Perform specialized cleaning and one-off cleaning tasks as required by service demands.
  • Assist with laundry tasks when needed.
  • If applicable, undertake ward-based responsibilities, including catering duties in collaboration with nursing staff to ensure service users receive suitable meals. This includes regenerating food, monitoring and recording food temperatures, and serving meals in a timely and presentable manner, along with providing appropriate cutlery and condiments. Additionally, assist in preparing the dining area for service and ensuring it is cleared post-service, as well as recording waste levels at the end of service and cleaning the regeneration trolley.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Willingness to complete all necessary in-house training for the role.

Desirable

  • Basic food hygiene certification.
  • Willingness to pursue training towards a relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 diploma (NVQ) or BICS (British Institute of Cleaning Science).

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in performing duties to the required standard.

Desirable

  • Background in the NHS.
  • Proficiency in computer usage.
  • Experience in food preparation and handling.
  • Familiarity with manual handling practices.
  • Valid driving license.
