Job Summary

We are seeking two highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to join our team, working alongside the Microbiology Consultants. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the work currently undertaken with respect to antimicrobial stewardship within the Trust and ensure that antimicrobials are used safely and effectively within our established Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service.

Main Duties
  • Regular attendance at antimicrobial ward rounds with the microbiology consultants
  • Providing specialist clinical input into the Trust OPAT service and contributing to weekly MDT meetings
  • Working towards the Trust's antimicrobial stewardship strategy
  • Ensuring that patients on OPAT receive appropriate monitoring and follow-up, auditing outcomes
  • Undertaking audits for antimicrobials and antifungals, including CQUINs, in conjunction with the microbiology consultants
  • Training multi-disciplinary team members in the appropriate use of antimicrobials

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Post Graduate Clinical Diploma
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice

Desirable

  • Independent Prescriber qualification or will undertake

Experience and Knowledge

  • Comprehensive post-registration training and experience in hospital pharmacy, including a solid grounding in all aspects of acute hospital pharmacy practice
  • Excellent knowledge and practice of clinical pharmacy in the acute care setting
  • Significant previous antimicrobials experience
