About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Pharmacist to lead our Haematology service at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for providing expert pharmacy services to patients in the haematology and haemato-oncology service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an expert pharmacy service to patients in the haematology and haemato-oncology service.
  • Act as a role model and local/ regional expert in the haematology/ haemato-oncology pharmacy field and ensure consistently high standards of clinical pharmacy service at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Support education and training in medicines optimisation for the multidisciplinary team in Haematology/ Haemato-Oncology.
  • Accept case referrals and provide expert opinion on medicines issues where appropriate in haematology/ haemato-oncology.
  • Support haematology services in providing effective clinical governance to manage risk, develop education and training pathways and embed clinical audit practices to ensure safe delivery of medicines service.

Person Specification

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy followed by the completion of one year pre-registration training and experience.
  • Post graduate Diploma and/or MSc in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent.
  • Qualified as an Independent Prescriber, or willing to work towards within 1 year.
  • SACT passport accreditation.
  • Extensive experience as a senior pharmacist working in cancer services.
  • Comprehensive post-registration training and experience in hospital pharmacy - this must include a solid grounding in all aspects of acute hospital pharmacy practice including dispensing and medicines information.
  • Experience in producing new drug evaluations for the Medicines Optimisation Committee.
  • Significant experience in delivering complex medicines optimisation services to cancer patients.
  • Contribution to data collection for clinical audit and experience in its use to improve practice.
