About the Role

The Islington Core team liaison role is a pivotal position that bridges the interface between the Personality Disorder Service (PDS) and the core teams. As a liaison specialist, you will work alongside other clinicians to facilitate collaboration and coordination between the PDS and the hospital division, crisis services, and young people's services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work alongside mental health practitioners within the core team to offer consultation, training, and joint working in relation to service users whose difficulties can be understood as personality disorder or difficulties.
  • Support the teams in the screening, risk management, and care planning for people with personality disorder/complex emotional needs.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision to Assistant, Trainee, and Band 7 Psychologists at the Personality Disorder Service.
  • Undertake clinical work in the Personality Disorder Therapies Team, which currently consists of three treatment streams: Mentalisation Based Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy.

Person Specification
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology as accredited by the Health Professions Council.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups and presenting psychologically informed advice in an accessible manner.
  • Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional, and academic settings.
  • Skills in the assessment, treatment, and management of severe and complex adult mental health problems.
