Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will provide specialist psychological intervention to children who have eye cancers and their families, as well as offering specialist advice and consultation on the children and young people's psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues.

The role will involve working across other paediatric specialities and general paediatrics to deliver psychological care to children and young people with acute and chronic physical health conditions as both inpatient and outpatient.

Main Duties of the Job

The job role will be split between offering clinical psychology input for two days a week to the retinoblastoma team and three days a week working with the paediatric liaison team.

The retinoblastoma team is one of two national teams who offer diagnosis and treatment of children with rare eye cancer. The team is made up of surgeons, clinical nurse specialists, play specialists, support workers, ophthalmologists, and psychologists.

The Paediatric Liaison Team is a specialist multidisciplinary team that provides a psychological health service to Children's services at Barts Health NHS Trust. The team offers specialised assessment, formulations, and interventions to young people with acute and chronic health conditions both as inpatient and outpatient.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have a doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including models of clinical psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology. They will also have experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings.

They will be able to work with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course, presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity. They will also have experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision.
