Additionally, UKOC serves as the project management consultancy Centre of Excellence for Technip Energies.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Home Office Construction Manager to be stationed in our Milton Keynes or London office, responsible for overseeing Home Office Construction activities across multiple projects during the proposal, design, and execution phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all necessary deliverables for Home Office Construction activities are prepared for the designated scope, providing essential support to various departments.
  • Guarantee that Technip Energies' subcontractors comply with specifications and drawings outlined in subcontract documents, focusing on HSE, quality, and planning.
  • Contribute to the development and growth of the UKOC construction department.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: UKOC Construction Manager Lead

Supervises: Construction Engineers

Key Interactions: Engage with construction departments both in the UK and internationally, multi-discipline project teams, subcontract department, commissioning, QHSE, procurement, engineering, scheduling, estimation, proposals team, project controls, project managers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact for construction during proposal negotiations and liaise with the construction teams of EPC centers at the proposal and project execution stages.
  • Collaborate with other Home Office departments, construction sites, and clients to produce required deliverables for projects.
  • Assist in formulating the overall construction subcontracting strategy during proposal and project execution phases.
  • Lead constructability assessments for feasibility studies, FEEDs, detailed designs, and field construction.
  • Organize and facilitate constructability workshops, culminating in comprehensive constructability reports.
  • Develop organizational charts and mobilization schedules.
  • Define and create Temporary Site Facilities plans.
  • Generate construction execution plans and other assigned deliverables.
  • Prepare construction sequences to support construction schedule development.
  • Provide technical assistance and conduct regular site visits for audits and feedback.
  • Participate in site surveys, contributing construction insights to survey reports.
  • Aid in the prequalification of subcontractors, including site visits and regional capability assessments.
  • Review subcontract inquiries and bids for technical compliance.
  • Assist in estimating both direct and indirect construction costs.
  • Organize transportation and logistics surveys and reports.
  • Oversee projects with comprehensive heavy lifting strategies.
  • Supervise site preparation, pre-construction, and enabling works.
  • Ensure compliance of construction contractors with all relevant statutory requirements, including CDM Regulations 2015 and specific client demands.
  • Support the engineering department in fulfilling their Principal Designer responsibilities.
  • Undertake frequent business trips to construction sites and client offices.
  • Exhibit leadership in HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and demonstrate a thorough understanding of UK HSE regulations, including CDM Regulations 2015.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the industry, ideally on major projects within petrochemical, energy transition, and related sectors.
  • HNC or degree in a relevant engineering or construction discipline.
  • Strong spatial awareness and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, conflict resolution, communication, and leadership abilities; capable of delivering presentations to senior management and project personnel.
  • Prior experience in planning and preparing construction execution.
  • Excellent technical writing capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient in interpreting drawings, specifications, and engineering procedures.
  • Contractually, commercially, and technically savvy.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong safety ethic and personal accountability for the safety of others.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with NEC contracts.
  • Understanding of UK National Agreements with trade unions.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations throughout design and construction phases.
  • Possession of a CSCS card and SMSTS qualification.
  • NEBOSH qualification.
