Job Overview
We are in search of a Home Office Construction Manager to be situated in our Milton Keynes or London office, responsible for overseeing Home Office Construction activities across various projects during the proposal, design, and execution phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for Construction during proposal negotiations and liaise with the Construction teams of EPC centers during project execution.
- Collaborate with other Home Office departments, construction sites, and clients to generate required deliverables for projects.
- Assist in formulating the overall construction subcontracting strategy during the proposal and execution stages.
- Lead constructability assessments for feasibility studies, FEEDs, detailed designs, and field construction.
- Organize and facilitate constructability workshops, culminating in comprehensive constructability reports.
- Develop organizational charts and mobilization schedules.
- Create Temporary Site Facilities plans.
- Draft construction execution plans and all associated deliverables.
- Prepare construction sequences to support the development of construction schedules.
- Provide technical assistance and conduct regular site visits for audits and feedback.
- Participate in site surveys and contribute construction insights to survey reports.
- Aid in the prequalification of subcontractors through site visits and regional capability assessments.
- Review subcontract inquiries and bids for technical adherence.
- Assist in estimating both direct and indirect construction costs.
- Lead transportation and logistics assessments and documentation.
- Oversee projects with comprehensive heavy lifting strategies.
- Supervise site preparation, pre-construction, and enabling works.
- Ensure compliance of Construction Contractors with all relevant statutory requirements.
- Support the engineering department in fulfilling their Principal Designer responsibilities.
- Undertake frequent business trips to construction sites and client offices.
- Exhibit leadership in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) matters, demonstrating a thorough understanding of UK HSE regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in the industry, ideally on significant projects within the petrochemical, energy transition, and related sectors.
- HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering or construction discipline.
- Strong spatial awareness coupled with a practical problem-solving approach.
- Exceptional interpersonal, conflict resolution, communication, and leadership skills; capable of presenting effectively to senior management and project personnel.
- Prior experience in planning and preparing construction execution.
- Proficient technical writing abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Well-versed in interpreting drawings, specifications, and engineering procedures.
- Contractually, commercially, and technically knowledgeable.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong safety ethic and a personal commitment to the safety of others.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with NEC contracts.
- Understanding of UK National Agreements with trade unions.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations throughout design and construction phases.
- Possession of a CSCS card and SMSTS qualification.
- NEBOSH certification.
