Role Overview:

We are looking for a proficient and knowledgeable Welding and Fabrication Evaluator to become part of our organization. The ideal candidate will assess and mentor apprentices in their work environments, ensuring they achieve the necessary standards up to Level 3. This position requires travel to different employer locations and demands a robust background in welding and fabrication, preferably with an A1 Assessor qualification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Perform regular evaluations of apprentices in their work settings, assessing their competencies and understanding in accordance with Level 3 Welding and Fabrication standards.
    • Deliver constructive feedback to apprentices and employers to foster learning and growth.
    • Ensure that all evaluations comply with institutional and awarding body standards.
  • Support and Guidance:
    • Provide assistance and direction to apprentices, aiding them in comprehending and fulfilling the requirements of their apprenticeship programs.
    • Create personalized learning plans to address skill deficiencies and monitor apprentice advancement.
    • Help apprentices prepare for their End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Employer Engagement:
    • Establish and nurture strong connections with employers to promote effective apprenticeship experiences.
    • Coordinate with employers to ensure apprentices acquire relevant and valuable exposure in their roles.
    • Advocate for the advantages of apprenticeships to potential new employer partners.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain precise and current records of evaluations, feedback, and apprentice progress.
    • Prepare and submit reports as required by institutional policies and external organizations.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Engage in internal and external quality assurance processes to uphold high assessment standards.
    • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the apprenticeship program.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Essential:
    • A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Welding and Fabrication.
    • Relevant industry experience in welding and fabrication.
  • Desirable:
    • A1 Assessor qualification (or equivalent, such as CAVA or TAQA).
    • Experience in a similar evaluation role within the educational sector.
    • Familiarity with End Point Assessment processes.
