Your Role as a Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing innovative solutions for a diverse range of industries, including machine tools, nuclear, medical devices, and material handling. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Evaluating customer requirements and translating them into detailed designs.
  • Ensuring that all designs meet stringent customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Acting as a consultative engineer, providing valuable insights, alternative design ideas, and recommendations to clients.
Technical Expertise Required

To excel in this role, you will possess a strong foundation in:

  • Welding principles and geometric tolerance.
  • Creating comprehensive drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Determining product Bill of Materials (BOM) and maintaining it within the company's ERP system.
  • Liaising with purchasing to ensure timely procurement of materials.
Collaboration and Innovation

You will work closely with the Engineering Manager, collaborating on steel, factored, and flex products. Your contributions will ensure that designs are delivered within project timelines while adhering to all legislative guidelines related to health and safety and environmental regulations.

Furthermore, you will provide hands-on support and guidance during the introduction of both new and existing products into manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must have:

  • A degree in an engineering-related discipline or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A solid understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and product costing knowledge.
  • Experience working within a Small to Medium Enterprise (SME).
  • Proficiency in Solid Works, Sheet Metal Design, and PDM software.
  • Knowledge of LVD and Amada Press brake software is highly desirable.
