Job Overview

Position: Cloud Architect - Snowflake

Location: London

Role Summary:

We are in search of a skilled Cloud Architect to develop comprehensive design documentation, construct enterprise data frameworks, and facilitate efficient data integration and migration utilizing contemporary technologies.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Architect the data hydration process for Teradata/Hadoop to Data Lake (S3) and Snowflake migration leveraging AWS Services, Glue, DBT, and Snowflake.
  • Formulate business cases for broader implementation, detailing business advantages, ROI, feature comparisons, and cost assessments of on-premises versus cloud solutions.
  • Streamline existing architecture by minimizing data redundancy, eliminating data silos, and embracing data product and data mesh frameworks.
  • Develop logical and physical data models within Snowflake.
  • Create a framework for converting Teradata BTEQ and ETL code to DBT and Snowflake SQL.
  • Establish an Enterprise Metadata Hub for registering metadata from Alation, Glue Catalog, DBT, and Snowflake.
  • Design Data Product Pipelines for functional, cross-domain, and business data products in Snowflake.
  • Construct a semantic layer in Snowflake and Starburst for analytics and reporting applications.
  • Design orchestration pipelines utilizing GitHub, Step Function, and Airflow.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Cloud Architect or in a comparable role.
  • Expertise in AWS, Snowflake, and DBT.
  • In-depth knowledge of data modeling and ETL methodologies.
  • Experience with metadata management tools such as Alation and Glue Catalog.
  • Proficient in SQL and Teradata BTEQ scripting.
  • Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, and Airflow.
