About the Role

Parker Smith Inclusion is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of our students with Autism/ASC, complex needs, severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and medical needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Support: Provide tailored support to students with Autism/ASC, complex needs, SLD, PMLD, and medical needs, helping them achieve their academic and personal development goals.
  • Assistance with Mobility: Assist students with limited mobility, including those who use wheelchairs, ensuring they can fully participate in classroom and school activities.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Personalised Curriculum: Implement personalised curriculum and behaviour management strategies that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Life Skills Development: Support students in developing their communication, social, and life skills.
  • Personal Care: Assist with personal care tasks, such as feeding, toileting, and medication administration, as needed.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience: Ideally, you will have experience working with children and young people with Autism/ASC and complex needs, especially in educational or care settings.
  • Skills: Knowledge of and experience in supporting students with physical disabilities and mobility issues, including those who use wheelchairs, is highly desirable.
  • Background: Experience as a care worker or care assistant is advantageous. Relevant qualifications in Health and Social Care, Psychology, Criminology, or Nursing are a plus.
  • Aspirations: This role is perfect for aspiring educational psychologists, therapists, or educators.
  • Attributes: Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and a positive attitude are essential. You should be able to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents and demonstrate a nurturing yet resilient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
