Position Overview

The Lakes Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated and proactive General Practitioner to become a vital part of our collaborative and thriving healthcare team. Our practice operates from modern facilities, ensuring convenient access for both patients and staff.

As a progressive training facility, we prioritize ongoing education and personal growth while delivering exceptional healthcare services to our diverse patient population of over 10,800 individuals.

Our team is characterized by a supportive and friendly atmosphere, working collectively to provide outstanding, patient-centered medical care.

You will benefit from the support of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team, which includes 4 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 4 Practice Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant, an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, a Physician Associate, a Paramedic, Clinical Pharmacists, and a Musculoskeletal Practitioner. Our practice is committed to a paper-light environment, focusing entirely on patient care. We also have a strong commitment to training, hosting GP trainees and Foundation year doctors.

We are part of a well-established and forward-thinking Primary Care Network (PCN).

Key Responsibilities

The following outlines the primary responsibilities of the salaried General Practitioner. Additional tasks may be required based on workload and staffing needs:

  • Delivering high-quality medical care to the registered population.
  • Providing services in accordance with the General Medical Services (GMS) contract.
  • Adhering to local and national guidelines for generic prescribing.
  • Effectively managing long-term health conditions.
  • Timely processing of administrative tasks, including referrals and repeat prescription requests.
  • Participating in telephone triage and duty doctor roles on a rotational basis.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records in line with best practices and policies.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to share the practice workload equitably.
  • Following clinical guidelines and participating in the audit process to ensure best practices.
  • Contributing to the implementation of quality improvement initiatives within the practice.
  • Actively participating in practice meetings and discussions.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of clinical governance and training within the practice.
  • Engaging in the appraisal process and ensuring compliance.
  • Preparing for and completing the revalidation process.
  • Committing to ongoing professional development and fostering a culture of learning within the team.
  • Assisting in the training of GP Specialty Trainees and Foundation Year 2 doctors.
  • Regularly reviewing and adhering to practice protocols and policies.
  • Promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement among all staff members.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified General Practitioner.
  • MRCGP certification.
  • Completion of Training Certificate (CCT) in General Practice.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Registration on the National Performers List.
  • Proficient in the use of Office and Outlook applications.

Desirable

  • Experience with Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and clinical audits.
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a salaried General Practitioner.
