About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team as a Parent/Carer Peer Support Specialist at Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a Parent/Carer Peer Support Specialist, you will provide emotional support and practical assistance to parents and carers of autistic children and young people, and/or those with a learning disability.

Main Responsibilities
  • Model Principles of Hope and Recovery

As a Parent/Carer Peer Support Specialist, you will embody the principles of hope and recovery in all aspects of your work with parents and carers and young people. You will demonstrate a professional and caring attitude toward children, young people, and families, and other professionals and colleagues.

Provide Emotional Support and Guidance

You will provide emotional support and guidance to parents and carers to help them better enable their child/young person's plan of care/treatment. You will also provide coping, self-help, and self-management techniques in an appropriate and supportive manner.

Enhance Communication and Collaboration

You will support enhanced communication and collaboration between parents/carers and mental health professionals, and ensure that parents/carers have all the right information to support the recovery of their child/young person. You will also support parents/carers to identify and access support within their local community.

Develop Keyworker Service

You will help in developing the keyworker service by getting feedback from parents/carers and considering ways to improve the way the service runs.

Requirements
  • Secondary Education

You must have a satisfactory level of Secondary education to GCSE English A-C grade or 9-4 grade or equivalent.

English Language Skills

You must be able to demonstrate a good standard of English.

Training and Development

You must be willing to undertake further training to support the development of the peer support role and child and young person's involvement.

Qualifications and Experience

You must have NVQ 3 in Care or equivalent and previous relevant experience working or volunteering in a peer support role or equivalent experience.
