The Role of Senior Construction Cost ManagerThe ideal candidate will assist the Senior/Managing Cost Manager in overseeing all financial aspects associated with the construction lifecycle.
This position involves managing a substantial development project valued at £50 million located in Newham, East London, which includes 161 residential units distributed across three buildings, varying in height from 8 to 12 stories, along with complementary facilities and rooftop gardens.
Currently, the project is in its foundational phase, concentrating solely on residential construction.
The Senior Construction Cost Manager will be pivotal in guaranteeing that projects are executed within financial limits and meet the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing Sub-Contractors while ensuring that Consultant and Supply packages align with budgetary limits.
- Evaluating work package tender submissions, participating in pre-start discussions, and providing comprehensive Order placement recommendations.
- Managing Sub-Contractor/Consultant/Supplier claims and final accounts in accordance with the company's financial interests.
- Participating in design team meetings to ensure adherence to contracts and cost efficiency.
- Supporting the Managing Surveyor and/or Head of the Commercial Department in fulfilling Senior Quantity Surveyor responsibilities when required.
Qualifications for the Senior Construction Cost Manager:
- BSc in Quantity Surveying.
- Chartered membership of RICS or actively pursuing it.
- Demonstrated experience in a commercial capacity within the Construction sector, preferably with building construction projects.
- Strong understanding of Standard Forms of Contract (NEC & JCT) and Standard Methods of Measurement.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations (including Part B) and NHBC Standards.
