Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity is available for a dedicated and passionate Endoscopy Nurse to become part of the team within the JAG Accredited Endoscopy Unit at Hywel Dda University Health Board.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide outstanding pre, peri, and post-procedure care to patients undergoing various Endoscopy procedures.
This dynamic unit operates over six days a week, catering to both out-patients and in-patients with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for adults. The role is primarily full-time, with the flexibility to work over four days if preferred.
Key Responsibilities
The Endoscopy Unit offers comprehensive support and training, enabling you to acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in gastroenterology, including the anatomy and physiology of the human body, while assessing and managing a variety of health conditions. The unit performs a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy.
Your daily activities will be diverse, involving collaboration with Gastroenterologists, Surgeons, Nurse Endoscopists, and Bowel Screening Wales practitioners. We provide a variety of endoscopy training courses, from foundational skills to advanced techniques. All endoscopy personnel follow a standardized competency pathway with an assigned mentor and participate in training tailored to their developmental needs.
This position offers the chance to enhance your skills in areas such as management, bowel screening, and specialized endoscopy techniques, paving the way for future career advancement in nursing.
The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this role; however, applications from both English and Welsh speakers are encouraged.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Current NMC registration
- Pre-registration experience in direct nursing care
- Experience in providing holistic nursing care
- Interest in developing nursing skills
Desirable:
- Degree in Nursing
- Evidence of post-registration training in areas such as POVA and Child Protection
- Intermediate Life Support certification if required in a clinical setting
- Understanding of clinical governance frameworks
- Implementation of evidence-based practice
