Role Overview

The Project Manager will deliver project management services for the company's array of battery energy storage assets. The initial focus will be on providing comprehensive project management and technical-commercial leadership throughout the construction phase of several energy storage projects utilizing cutting-edge battery technology. With a significant pipeline of energy storage and solar assets, this role offers substantial potential for advancement into areas such as development, procurement, financing, and asset management of solar and storage projects in the UK.

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable experience in the development and construction of renewable energy or battery storage projects, both from the owner's and contractor's perspectives, including on-site experience. The candidate should be adept at leading contractors and other stakeholders while ensuring adherence to contractual obligations. This position presents a remarkable opportunity to engage in a dynamic industry at the forefront of the energy transition. As a growing enterprise with ambitious goals, the role can be tailored to align with the experience and aspirations of the selected candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently oversee the construction of multiple energy storage projects, executed by an EPC contractor or through a dual contract strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with planning, grid, and land lease obligations while managing relationships with stakeholders such as National Grid.
  • Maintain rigorous document control, verify design and quality control documentation, produce meeting minutes, and manage contracts and health & safety protocols.
  • Oversee contract management processes.

Additional Responsibilities for the Right Candidate

  • Conduct due diligence on projects from the development team, contributing to technical planning decisions.
  • Engage in procurement and tendering processes, including supplier qualification, contract documentation preparation, and negotiations.
  • Support the financing of future projects by managing due diligence processes and providing input on technical aspects of financial models.
  • Develop strategies for business growth, including asset management strategies and plans for solar/storage hybrid projects.
  • Take responsibility for the development of new solar assets in pre-planning and consented stages.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Degree qualified or possess significant relevant experience, preferably in Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in project management within a renewable energy developer, contractor, or consultancy.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in battery energy storage is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proven experience in development and construction.
