Job Summary

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading the nursing teams in the Emergency Department, ensuring seamless communication and coordination throughout the 24-hour period.

As an experienced nurse, the jobholder will be responsible for coordinating activities, providing support to qualified and unqualified staff, and assessing patient care needs.

The ideal candidate will be a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the nursing team, and ensuring effective management of the department in the absence of the Lead Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Lead Nurse in the day-to-day management of a team of nurses and support staff
  • Coordinate the smooth running of the Emergency Department on a shift-by-shift basis
  • Develop and implement programs of care, ensuring effective patient outcomes
  • Act as a shift leader/coordinator, problem-solving and forward-planning
