Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior registered nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse on Ward 25, a 24-bedded mixed-sex ward specializing in Diabetes and Endocrinology.

As a senior nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading the nursing team, and contributing to the management and development of seamless, multi-disciplinary care for patients and their carers.

About the Role

You will work collaboratively with the ward sisters/charge nurses to provide leadership and management for the team, ensuring the delivery of excellent care to our patients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert knowledge and guidance to the multidisciplinary team
  • Supervising and training peers and junior staff
  • Developing a culture of continuous improvement, with a focus on the patient journey and clinical outcomes

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Proven experience at Band 5
  • Scope roles relevant to speciality
  • Evidence of ward/dept management under supervision

Desirable:

  • Evidence of management responsibilities already undertaken
  • Experience of carrying out and monitoring PDA process

Qualifications

Essential:

  • RN with current registration
  • Mentoring / Teaching certificate
  • Demonstrate professional post-registration development

Desirable:

  • Participation in management / leadership development courses

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • Extended clinical skills relevant to speciality
  • Development of knowledge and skills in speciality
  • Up-to-date knowledge of professional issues
  • Able to work safely under pressure across competing priorities

Desirable:

  • Evidence of knowledge in Diabetes and Endocrine
