About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Surgical Ward Manager to join our team at Woodlands Hospital, part of the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our ward management team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take charge of shifts on a rotational basis, acting as a primary nurse to service users and their carers.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with all relevant personnel contributing to the care of service users.
  • Collaborate with the Ward Manager to ensure continuous clinical and professional development for ward staff.
  • Deputise for the Ward Manager as required and promote multi-disciplinary team working.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in mental health nursing, preferably with experience in a similar role. You should have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A post-registration clinical qualification in mental health is essential, and experience of managing staff and other professionals is desirable.
