Government Relations Specialist

Transport for Wales is seeking a highly skilled Government Relations Manager to lead our government relations with the UK and Welsh Governments.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice on government affairs, drafting and reviewing correspondence, and leading the development and delivery of events. They will also be accountable for producing briefings for Ministers, TfW Board Members, and the Executive Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide advice on government affairs and draft correspondence to UK and Welsh Governments.
- Lead the development and delivery of events, including meetings and targeted communications.
- Draft weekly updates for Ministers and officials, highlighting TfW developments and achievements.
- Deliver robust programmes, engaging with Ministers and officials to inform them of TfW developments and capabilities.
- Extensive experience of working in the public sector and with government officials and Ministers.
- Understanding of Welsh and UK Government procedures and protocols.
- Ability to lead on the development and delivery of materials to inform the wider business of best practice approaches and government requirements.
- Demonstrable experience of establishing and maintaining effective relationships and communicating with a wide range of colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
The ability to speak/write Welsh would be an asset, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language and offers opportunities for employees to develop and improve their Welsh Language skills.
