About the Role

SSE Thermal is a leading player in the energy transition, and we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Grid Engineer to join our Grid Services Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in managing the gas and grid connections for our low-carbon projects in GB and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver connection strategies for SSE Thermal projects, ensuring compliance with Grid Code requirements.
  • Manage relationships with Transmission/Distribution Companies, driving the delivery of connection requirements for our low-carbon projects.
  • Provide technical leadership within the team and the wider business, responsible for technical signoff as part of our due diligence process.
  • Assess opportunities for additional revenue streams for operational sites and development projects.
Requirements
  • Relevant Engineering Degree/Masters qualification and professional title (Engineering Chartership).
  • Knowledge of the GB and Ireland transmission system, its operation, and current/future challenges.
  • Experience within a similar role, managing grid connections, gas connections, or working to develop CO2 and H2 connections.
  • Strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and understanding of the importance of engineering decisions in the context of the business.
