Fleet Utilization Officer

East Renfrewshire Council is seeking a highly skilled Fleet Utilization Officer to join our Transport and Fleet operations Team.

The successful candidate will lead a comprehensive study and analysis of current systems, processes, procedures, and work measurements to implement improvements that will significantly contribute to the council's Fleet Cost Savings Strategy and the Fleet Transformation Strategy aimed at meeting government targets for Net Zero carbon emissions.

The post holder will work closely with the Transport Manager, Workshop Manager, Fleet Compliance team, ICT department, and external service providers to identify operational inefficiencies and offer improved alternative solutions that consider future transitioning of fleet from ICE vehicles to carbon neutral alternatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review and analyze current digital and manual systems, including Fleet/Workshop Management Systems and vehicle Telematics, to identify areas for improvement.
  2. Communicate ideas and recommendations through verbal and written analytical reports with representatives of service departments, the Transport Manager, and Operations Manager to address vehicle and equipment requirements, projected usage, and determining essential future fleet requirements.
  3. Assist corporately with the transformation of fleet and infrastructure to meet Net Zero targets.

Requirements:

  • A Degree or a recognized qualification in a related subject area, such as Computer Science, Business Analytics, Business Information Studies, or ICT Systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably gained in the Fleet/Transport industry.
  • Experience in 'deep dive' interrogation and analysis of ICT Systems.
