Position Summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Freight Business Development Manager to become a vital part of the freight sales team in the Northeast region. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting and selling a comprehensive multimodal freight forwarding service across the Northeast and adjacent areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and nurture a robust portfolio of accounts through targeted business development efforts and leveraging your existing client network.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities via various channels, including telemarketing, direct outreach, and personal engagement to qualify and cultivate prospects.
- Conduct cold calls (in alignment with KPI management) to both potential and existing clients, providing tailored consultative services and upselling where appropriate.
- Deliver engaging product presentations and demonstrations to effectively promote services and solutions.
- Collaborate strategically with the UK sales team to devise and implement sales strategies aimed at enhancing both personal and team profitability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all commercial customer inquiries, escalations, and issues.
- Regularly submit personal budgets, opportunity pipelines, and weekly activity reports utilizing tools such as Salesforce.
- Foster, develop, and maintain specific markets, products, and customer relationships to achieve budgetary goals.
- Maximize profit potential through ongoing reviews and the identification of new business opportunities.
- Continuously seek ways to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction, promoting long-term business relationships through open and collaborative communication.
- Stay informed about competitor activities and pricing strategies to ensure competitive positioning in the market.
- Manage your designated client base, addressing any early-stage operational and financial challenges through effective operational management.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience in freight forwarding sales.
- A commercial mindset with strong customer service skills.
- Excellent prospecting and closing abilities.
- Minimum educational qualification of GCSE or equivalent.
- Valid driving license.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes.
- Personable, adaptable, approachable, and quick-thinking.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range of £40,000 to £50,000, commensurate with experience.
- Commission structure.
- Car allowance.
- Contributory pension with a 6% employer contribution.
