A prominent organization in the metal sector is looking for a committed Field Materials Engineer to become part of their workforce. This position provides a chance to make a substantial impact on the efficiency and sustainability of their operations.

The successful applicant will assist in the creation of sustainable solutions, optimize cost-effective scrap utilization, and participate in sustainability-focused initiatives throughout the UK and Europe.

Identify economically viable sources of end-of-life scrap across the UK and Europe, and assess scrap sorting and processing technologies.
Proactively engage in, supervise, and implement sustainability-related projects at partner locations.
Gather data, enhance existing databases, compose reports, and analyze and propose solutions for effective blending of identified scrap streams.
Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving to enhance process capability.
Ensure reliable data collection and analysis for ongoing improvement.
Possess a degree in metallurgy, materials science, materials engineering, or a related field.

Initial experience in a manufacturing environment; High level of computer and software proficiency, including statistical analysis software (training provided for proprietary internal software).

Willingness to travel frequently across the UK and Europe with flexibility for short-notice travel.
A strong team player with the ability to take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate initiative in planning.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and a dedication to continuous improvement.
