Job Title: International Tax Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled International Tax Specialist to join our team at HMRC. As an International Tax Specialist, you will play a critical role in strengthening our efforts to close the tax gap and ensure compliance with tax obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage tax risks associated with international tax issues
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to ensure compliance with tax obligations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address tax gaps
  • Provide expert advice on tax matters to customers and stakeholders
  • Contribute to building the International Tax community through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Good recent experience of UK Corporation Tax or International Tax or Transfer Pricing work in HMRC, industry, or practice
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work across a range of stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Experience of managing UK Corporation Tax or International Tax or Transfer Pricing enquiries or projects
Qualifications

You should hold one of the following qualifications:

  • HMRC Tax Specialist Programme or previous equivalent (Direct Tax) or an external equivalent qualification such as Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA)/Associate of the Taxation Institute Incorporated (ATII), Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT), or Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) membership qualification
  • Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX Lawyer (including the Professional stage Business and Commercial Law module) in England and Wales (or equivalents in Scotland and Northern Ireland), provided that direct tax matters make up a substantial part of your professional experience

We offer a competitive salary range of £61,253 - £67,713 per annum, a Civil Service pension with an average employer contribution of 28.97%, and a generous leave allowance starting at 25 days and increasing by a day for every year of qualifying service up to a maximum of 30 days.
