About the Role
The National Audit Office (NAO) is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Executive Director to join our Executive Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in shaping the NAO's strategy and direction, and will be responsible for leading a team of around 200 financial and performance auditors.
Main Responsibilities
- Business Management: Work collaboratively with the Executive Team to achieve the NAO's strategic objectives.
- External Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key audited bodies and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery and raise the NAO's profile.
- Service Delivery: Provide strategic leadership for the delivery of a portfolio of work, including client engagement and ensuring the delivery of high-quality outputs.
- Group Accountability: Lead a team of around 200 financial and performance auditors, driving performance and enabling continuous improvement.
- Ways of Working: Act as a role model for positive business behaviours, including collaborative and inclusive ways of working.

The National Audit Office is the UK's independent public spending watchdog, supporting Parliament in holding government to account and helping improve public services through high-quality audits. We are independent of government and the civil service, and our work is overseen by the Public Accounts Commission, a parliamentary committee of MPs.
