Position Overview

We are seeking a Market Risk Manager to join our finance team, specializing in the management of market risks associated with crude oil and its derivatives. This role is critical in shaping our risk management strategies and ensuring the stability of our operations in the commodity sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of analysts to ensure timely delivery of risk and profit & loss reports to management.
  • Analyze market conditions and supply-demand trends to identify potential risks and evaluate their impact on our crude oil portfolio.
  • Conduct thorough market data analysis, focusing on historical pricing, volatility, and other key indicators.
  • Perform detailed pricing evaluations using advanced quantitative methods to assess risks and value complex transactions.
  • Collaborate with various departments to identify and manage risk exposures across the organization.
  • Provide regular insights to senior management regarding market trends and risk assessments.
  • Engage in cross-departmental projects related to risk management and trading strategies.
  • Support finance and accounting teams during month-end processes.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering their professional development in risk management.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in market risk or product control within commodity trading, particularly in crude oil.
  • Strong grasp of global commodity markets, including pricing and trading dynamics.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, with a knack for interpreting complex data and deriving actionable insights.
  • Proficient in risk measurement techniques, including value at risk (VaR) and scenario analysis.
  • Familiarity with risk management software and ETRM systems.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and SQL, with experience in risk modeling.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a commitment to team development.
