Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to join our consultancy team. This role is crucial for the effective financial and commercial management of various projects within the rail sector. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant railway experience. Experience in network rail projects is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and coordinate the financial and commercial aspects of projects
  2. Develop and implement cost plans and estimates
  3. Procure and manage contracts
  4. Manage and develop staff
  5. Provide commercial and financial advice to project teams

Requirements:

  1. Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  2. Minimum of 5 years of relevant railway experience
  3. Experience in procurement, cost planning, estimating, and post-contract management
  4. Understanding of project management, planning, risk, and investment
  5. Knowledge of railway and construction forms of contract
  6. Strong IT and communication skills
  7. Ability to work independently and manage fluctuating workloads
  8. Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Professional qualification or working towards APC
  2. Member of RICS or equivalent recognized body

Software/Tools:

  1. Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project)
  2. COINS (Construction Industry Solutions)
  3. NEC Contracts knowledge
