Job Title: Head of Engineering and Safety

Job Summary:

Assystem is a leading international company specializing in engineering and project management services. We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Engineering and Safety to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading our engineering, safety case, and requirements teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and inspire engineering, safety case, and requirements teams.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables meet regulatory standards.
  • Integration: Oversee the delivery of system requirements, engineering, and safety case activities for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strategy Development: Create and secure endorsement for engineering and safety case strategies, processes, and tools.
  • Baseline Establishment: Collaborate with regulatory bodies to set the nuclear baseline and ensure roles are qualified.
  • Collaboration: Ensure robust representation in commercial delivery arrangements with stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary interface with regulatory bodies, site operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Foster a cohesive and integrated approach within multi-disciplined teams.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Programme Safety Engineering Management Plan.

Requirements:

  • Regulatory Experience: Familiarity with dealing with regulatory bodies in high-consequence environments, ideally nuclear.
  • Proven Leadership: Successful recent experience leading multi-disciplined teams in producing engineering designs, justifications, and safety cases for major infrastructure or complex engineering programmes.
  • Diverse Experience: Extensive senior engineering leadership experience across multiple major infrastructure programmes or complex multi-disciplined engineering projects, preferably in regulated environments.
  • Professional Credentials: Chartered Engineer with full membership in a recognized engineering institution.
  • Line Management: Experience managing engineering staff at the chief engineer level.
  • Desirable Experience: Background in marine structures delivery or naval architecture is a plus.
