Job Description

Brett Martin, a leading independent manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Technician to join its team. As a key member of the production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of production lines, including setup, start-up, and control of machinery and equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supply production materials to machines in accordance with specifications
  • Set up, start up, and control production machinery and ancillary equipment as required
  • Maintain the production process in accordance with quality standards
  • Ensure finished products conform to predetermined standards and specifications
  • Deal with non-conforming materials, processes, and products in accordance with company procedures
  • Apply and maintain adequate standards of safety, housekeeping, and cleanliness in the workplace
  • Participate in training and improvement activities and train others as required
  • Allocate operators to machines/duties to ensure all required work is carried out on their shift
  • Be willing and capable to learn new and established processes and procedures within given time-scales
  • Complete output and product output sheets and document any problems relating to scrap or downtime

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a technical/mechanical role
  • Recent experience operating production machinery
  • Previous experience in setting up machinery in line with specifications
  • Previous experience in problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • A clear understanding of performance targets

Desired Criteria:

  • A technical qualification in mechanical or production engineering
  • Familiarity with plastics processing and extrusion experience
  • Experience of TPM preferably in a continuous processing environment
  • Experience of shift work, including nights and weekends
