Position Title: Service Support

Reports To: Technical Service Manager

This role is ideally suited for individuals with a background in field service who prefer an in-house position. The work will be approximately 90% in-house and 10% on-site for training purposes.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering qualifications (City & Guilds Level 1, 2 & 3, HNC/HND, or NVQ Level 2 or above)
  • Experience in electrical fault diagnosis (either on-site or via telephone)
  • Strong customer service communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Detail-oriented, precise, and self-assured, with the ability to resolve issues
  • Basic computer skills (proficiency in Word and Excel is required)
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred

Desirable Qualifications / Skills:

  • Experience in field service (traveling for work within the UK or internationally)
  • Knowledge of additional foreign languages (desirable in the following order: Portuguese, German, French, Italian)
  • Familiarity with PCBs & PLCs (including program uploads and fault record analysis)
  • Experience with MRP / ERP systems (preferably Dynamics 365)
  • Valid manual driving license
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel

Training:

Comprehensive training is provided for all employees. You will receive in-house training in production to familiarize yourself with our product range and understand the flow of materials from goods in to assembly (both electrical/electronic and mechanical), testing (system testing, analysis, and fault finding), and dispatch.

You will accompany experienced Service Technicians on installations, commissioning, testing, service, and repair visits.

In-house MRP training will be provided by department staff, along with other courses as needed.

Tools & Equipment:

All necessary tools and safety equipment will be supplied, including personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer support through various communication channels, addressing issues and concerns in a logical and composed manner.
  • Conduct advanced remote fault diagnosis using specialized monitoring tools.
  • Perform electrical fault diagnosis, interpreting electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and circuit diagrams with a logical approach.
  • Carry out mechanical fault diagnosis, reading 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and understanding measurements and tolerances.
  • Utilize software knowledge to communicate effectively with others remotely.
  • Manage spare parts administration, identifying required parts, generating quotations, and converting quotes into orders.
  • Coordinate Service Technicians' visits, organizing travel arrangements and liaising with customers to confirm schedules.
  • Prepare Service Technicians for scheduled work, discussing faults, installations, and service visits on-site.
  • Collect commissioning information and release codes, updating the database accordingly.
  • Occasionally visit customer sites both domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Leverage foreign language skills to communicate with relevant customers when applicable.

Compensation Package:

Salary: Basic annual salary ranges from £42,000 to £44,000.

Standard working hours: 08:45 – 17:15, Monday to Friday.

Pension plan available upon joining the company (5% contribution).

Life assurance provided after completing the probationary period (6 months).

Reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses.

Private healthcare and increased pension contributions (8%) available after further qualifying period (2-3 years).

33 days of holiday, including UK Bank holidays, with additional holiday accrual for long service.
