Community-Based Speech and Language Therapist

Position Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to become a vital part of our Adult Community Services team.
Role Responsibilities: The selected individual will be responsible for conducting specialized evaluations, management, and therapeutic interventions for adults experiencing communication challenges and swallowing difficulties within a community setting.
This position requires the ability to handle a varied caseload, work independently, and collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals to provide exceptional, patient-focused care.
Key Duties:
- Comprehensive Assessments: Perform thorough evaluations of adults in the community to assess the nature and severity of communication and swallowing impairments.
- Collaborative Care: Partner with a multidisciplinary team, including medical practitioners, nursing staff, occupational and physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Community Engagement: Connect with local services and support systems to provide holistic care and assistance for patients.
- Continuous Learning: Participate in ongoing professional development to remain informed about the latest advancements in speech and language therapy, especially in community contexts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech and Language Therapy or a related discipline.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Proven experience working with adults facing communication and swallowing challenges, particularly in community environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Additional certifications or specialized training in areas such as dysphagia or neurological conditions.
- Experience in community health services and collaboration with local support networks.
- Leadership capabilities to mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth of the therapy team.
