Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a skilled and experienced Dangerous Goods Instructor to join our team at the Defence College of Support. As a key member of our delivery team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality training to service personnel operating in an air environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Dangerous Goods training to students, ensuring they meet the required standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate and maintain the provision of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Part 1 qualified instructors.
  • Set and maintain discipline standards, ensuring a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Direct the standards of course preparation, management of classrooms, lessons, training aids, and all other materials necessary for course delivery.
  • Control the preparation, setting, and marking of progress tests and final examinations, working closely with the Examinations Manager.
  • Carry out periodic assurance checks on all delivery documentation to ensure compliance and relevance, working closely with other departments as needed.
  • Develop course content based on student feedback, ensuring it remains relevant and effective.
  • Generate a robust annual training programme, taking into account the needs of our service personnel.
  • Support other courses as required, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in Dangerous Goods training, who is able to communicate complex information effectively to a diverse audience. The ideal candidate will have experience in a teaching or instructing role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality training.

Desirable skills and qualifications include:

  • Good knowledge of Office 365 software.
  • Experience in a teaching or instructing role.
  • Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Accredited Dangerous Goods Shipper qualification.
  • Experience in identifying and consigning dangerous goods via land and sea.
  • Experience in the receipt, storage, and distribution of explosive materials and associated paperwork.
