In this role, you will oversee a team of Transport Clerks and Drivers at a significant distribution center. Reporting directly to the Transport Operations Manager, you will be integral to a large team ensuring the efficient and safe operation of a facility that functions around the clock. Your proactive management style will be essential, as you will need to engage with the experienced team on-site, maintain a meticulous approach to detail, and ensure the fleet operates within legal and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct and manage daily activities of Transport Clerical staff and the driving team, including resource allocation and performance management. Ensure consistent operational performance across the transport operations, managing team performance to meet key performance indicators (KPIs). Monitor compliance with regulations across all Transport Operations activities. Foster and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including store teams. Identify and propose efficiency improvements while balancing service quality and cost-effectiveness. Adhere to legislation, policies, and procedures in all aspects of people management, health and safety, and environmental practices. Analyze information systematically, knowing when to act swiftly and when to conduct deeper analysis. Conduct accident and incident investigations in collaboration with the Health & Safety team. Perform clerical duties during periods of absence. Coordinate with the Fleet Compliance team.

Supervise any agency staff as required. Make operational decisions to achieve daily objectives. Ensure legal compliance of the fleet in accordance with company policies.

Experience and Skills Required:

Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies regarding people management, safety, and environmental standards.
