About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Practitioner to join our dynamic team in a busy NHS practice. As a GP in our practice, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously, providing high-quality medical services to our patients while being supported by a strong clinical team and efficient administration.

Our practice is committed to delivering excellent patient care and has a strong focus on quality and safety. We have a multidisciplinary team that includes Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Nurses, First Contact Physiotherapists, Pharmacist Practitioners, Practice Nurses, and Health Care Assistants. We also have an efficient and friendly administration team that provides excellent support to our clinicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract, additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self-referred, or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
  • Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice; disease management protocols, provide counselling and health education.
  • Work within current ICB policy for prescribing.
  • Maximise the effective use of current clinical computer systems.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
  • Undertake all duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Service Development
  • Be involved in developing primary care services to meet the needs of the practice population.
  • Support health development and ensure health promotion work is undertaken to allow the practice population to make informed choices.
Personal and Professional Development

Maintain continued education through attendance at courses and/or study days as necessary and as identified within clinical and organisation appraisals (Personal Development Plan).

Ensure appropriate professional registration and licensing are met through continued professional development.

Participate in all training programmes implemented by the practice/organisation as part of this employment. This training would include:

  • Participation in an annual performance review.
  • Maintaining a log of all personal and/or professional development.
  • Take responsibilities for own development, learning and performance.
Person Specification
  • Qualified GP.
  • MRCGP.
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP.
  • General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
  • Full GMC Registration.
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently.
  • National Performers List registration.
