Job Title: Intellectual Property Manager - Medical Research

We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Manager to join our team at LGC, a leading international life sciences company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing intellectual property assets created by researchers, providing scientific, commercial, and regulatory support for commercialization, and working closely with colleagues, researchers, and officials to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights
  • Provide scientific, commercial, and regulatory support for commercialization of intellectual property assets
  • Work closely with colleagues, researchers, and officials to achieve our goals
  • Attend sites in London, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Salisbury, Swindon, and Harwell to provide face-to-face support to researchers
  • Engage legal and patent subcontractors to resolve IP and commercialization cases
  • Gather data and provide detailed analysis to support development of business cases for IP commercialization
  • Deliver core training for staff on IP and commercialization
  • Work with internal and external legal advice to review collaboration agreement issues
  • Maintain accurate database records of current IP assets being managed
Requirements:
  • Degree (BSc, MSc, or PhD) qualified in life sciences
  • Understanding of intellectual property management processes and ways to protect IP assets
  • Ability to communicate information regarding intellectual property and commercialization to a range of audiences
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience of working in a technology transfer environment to commercialize life science and health-related intellectual property
  • Some experience of negotiating commercialization licenses
  • Understanding of the different priorities of industry, researchers, and government when agreeing mutually beneficial outcomes for commercialization of IP
