Hays Accountancy & Finance is collaborating with a reputable Manufacturing SME to recruit a dedicated and skilled Full-time or Part-time Financial Operations Manager on a permanent basis.
This role is based in a location that is easily accessible and involves a diverse range of accounting responsibilities, reporting directly to the Managing Director.
Role Overview
Your primary responsibilities will encompass the complete financial cycle for the organization, including management accounting, year-end financial preparation, balance sheet management, transactional finance tasks, and generating ad-hoc reports for senior management.
The position is adaptable to suit the right candidate, offering flexible working hours based on individual preferences. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute significantly and take charge of the financial processes within a leading manufacturing entity.
Key Responsibilities
Your essential duties will include:
- Preparation of quarterly management accounts
- Year-end account preparation for external auditors
- Completion of quarterly VAT returns
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Management of cash flow and bank balances
- Oversight of debtors and creditors
- Management of cash book, purchase and sales ledger processes
- Bank reconciliations and payroll preparation
- Handling accruals, prepayments, journals, and budget/forecast preparation
- Conducting variance analysis
You will also engage in various ad-hoc tasks, projects, and reporting for senior management, with opportunities to enhance and optimize processes and systems.
Qualifications and Skills
To be eligible for this hands-on Financial Operations Manager position, you should possess:
- Experience in a similar role
- Background in an SME with a hands-on and diverse accounting function
- Strong MS Excel skills and familiarity with financial systems
- Ability to manage your workload effectively to meet deadlines
- Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Part-qualified or qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent experience
- Quick learning ability and adaptability to business needs
Experience with financial systems in the manufacturing sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
