This dynamic accounting position will report directly to the Managing Director and is based in a location that is easily accessible. The role encompasses a comprehensive range of financial responsibilities, overseeing all aspects from management accounting to year-end financial preparations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of quarterly management accounts
- Year-end account preparation for external auditors
- Completion of quarterly VAT returns
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Management of cash flow and bank balances
- Oversight of debtors and creditors
- Management of cash book and purchase/sales ledger processes
- Execution of bank reconciliations and payroll preparation
- Handling accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
- Preparation of budgets and forecasts, along with variance analysis
This role also involves engaging in various ad-hoc projects and reporting tasks for senior management, providing opportunities to enhance and refine existing processes and systems.
Advisory Role: You will offer general financial guidance to the Managing Director and operational teams, addressing any financial inquiries that may arise.
Candidate Profile: To qualify for this hands-on position, candidates should possess relevant experience in a similar role, particularly within an SME environment. Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with financial systems are essential, along with the ability to manage workloads effectively to meet deadlines.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver, capable of fostering relationships at all organizational levels, both internally and externally. A part-qualified or fully qualified status in CIMA/ACCA/ACA, or equivalent experience, is preferred. Familiarity with the Opera finance system and experience in the manufacturing sector would be beneficial but not mandatory.
