Position Overview

We are looking for a committed and proficient HVAC Engineer to become a vital member of our Technical Services division at Sodexo. This important position entails the upkeep, repair, and installation of various systems and equipment essential to our operations.

As an HVAC Engineer, your role will be crucial in ensuring that all tasks are performed in accordance with industry standards and legal regulations, thus contributing to the safety and efficiency of our facilities. Your technical expertise will be key in maintaining optimal conditions across our sites, ensuring a comfortable environment for all users.

The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset, ready to address challenges within a diverse, multi-building environment. You will be pivotal in enhancing service delivery, boosting client satisfaction, and ensuring adherence to all relevant codes and policies. Your responsibilities will range from routine maintenance to urgent response situations, where your ability to prioritize tasks and communicate effectively will be as valuable as your technical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adopt a multi-skilled approach to a variety of tasks beyond your core competencies, ensuring all work is conducted safely and in compliance with applicable safety regulations.
  • Be an integral part of the engineering team responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical building services.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize your workload, working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Provide coverage for other HVAC engineers during periods of absence.
  • Maintain communication devices at all times to ensure immediate response to emergencies during operational hours and on-call periods.
Qualifications:

Essential:
  • City and Guilds qualification or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to perform basic tasks across mechanical, electrical, and building disciplines.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage the workload of others.
  • Effective listening skills to understand and interpret the views of others.
  • Capability to analyze situations and provide technical solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to engage with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in a building maintenance environment.
  • Basic oversight of maintenance contractors.
  • Understanding of asset interrelationships and their maintenance requirements.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and current legislation.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Strong client-focused approach.
  • Willingness to contribute to departmental operations.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable:
  • HNC/HND or equivalent experience in an engineering or building discipline.
  • Relevant trade certifications.
  • Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Basic report writing abilities.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Experience with Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) systems.
  • Understanding of statutory and technical requirements for plant and engineering services.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team.
