Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative engineering team at George Blake. As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will drive the development of cutting-edge products from concept through to production, ensuring technical excellence, design integrity, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the mechanical design and development of complex products and systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications, quality, and performance standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers.
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle, from concept design, prototyping, and testing to production release.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and manufacturing engineering, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
  • Drive innovation in design methodologies and materials to enhance product performance, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Oversee design reviews, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate risks through rigorous analysis, simulation, and testing.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline design processes and improve team efficiency.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in your role as the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, providing strategic direction and technical solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and senior management, to define project requirements and ensure successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or principal role.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA) and experience with FEA/CFD tools.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC, injection molding, sheet metal, etc.).
  • Proven track record of delivering complex mechanical systems, from concept to production.
