Our client is looking for a Lead Risk Assessor to become a vital part of their innovative team. This position allows for remote work from anywhere within the United Kingdom.

As a Lead Risk Assessor, you will be essential in evaluating client applications, recognizing risk elements, and establishing policy conditions.

Your expertise will ensure that clients receive precise coverage, allowing them to file claims as necessary throughout the policy duration.

This role demands a comprehensive understanding of mortality and morbidity risk factors alongside financial assessment.


Responsibilities:


In your role as a Lead Risk Assessor, your main duty will be to analyze client applications, identify risk factors, and decide on the feasibility of offering Life, Critical Illness Coverage, and Income Protection.

You will have the authority to determine the terms to propose or request additional information from clients or their medical professionals.

Your contributions will be crucial in guaranteeing that we deliver accurate coverage for our clients, facilitating their ability to make claims as needed throughout the policy's duration.

Additionally, you will have the chance to engage in or spearhead initiatives aimed at refining the underwriting process and enhancing the commercial viability of our systems.

  • Thoroughly evaluate life and disability risks by reviewing applications
  • Engage in or lead initiatives that improve the underwriting process and enhance commercial viability
  • Ensure that requests for further information are relevant, precise, and proportionate to the assessed risk
  • Identify and address complaints promptly
  • Maintain accurate daily records of all work to support effective business decisions
  • Stay updated on legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Communicate professionally with both internal and external clients through various communication channels
  • Understand service level commitments made during marketing and sales processes

Qualifications:


The ideal candidate for this Lead Risk Assessor role possesses extensive knowledge of mortality and morbidity risk factors, as well as financial assessment.

You should have a deep understanding of all protection products and be familiar with relevant legislation and regulatory standards. Your exceptional time management skills will enable you to effectively balance business needs with personal development.

Your strong written and verbal communication abilities will facilitate professional interactions with both internal and external clients across all communication platforms.

  • In-depth understanding of mortality and morbidity risk factors and financial assessment
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in individual life underwriting roles, with experience in evaluating medical evidence
  • Experience with relevant products - Life, Critical Illness, Protection Products, Income Protection
  • Familiarity with legislation and regulatory standards
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all media
  • Ability to assess applications holistically, considering each case on its own merits
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in providing appropriate terms
  • Strong problem-solving skills
