Job Overview

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and psychiatric expertise for the delivery of high-quality care to patients with functional and organic illnesses on the Maples ward.

The ward is a multidisciplinary team environment, supported by a full range of healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists, and speech and language therapists. The ward also benefits from input from a dementia nurse consultant and a full-time SAS doctor.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure the highest clinical standards in the assessment and management of patients with acute mental disorders.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement effective care plans.
  • Provide teaching and training to junior staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to departmental and trust-wide initiatives on clinical governance, audit, and research.
  • Ensure active participation in continuing professional development (CPD) and stay up-to-date with best practices in old age psychiatry.
