About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Engineering Manager to lead our team of data engineers. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, completeness, and accessibility of our vast datasets, which encompass information from thousands of sensors and assets monitoring clean and wastewater operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and databases for critical operational indicators (ODIs) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) measures, including storm overflows, flow forecasting, leakage, and supply interruptions.
  • Support the implementation of digital registration standards for sensor and asset information across various systems, such as MCERTs, EDM, Flow, and Leakage.
  • Establish a centralized data lake as a single source of truth for operational reporting and access.
  • Provide high-quality and complete data to internal stakeholders through self-service tools, APIs, and on-demand requests.
  • Ensure that all data storage adheres to regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative data products that provide insights into root cause failures and operational performance.
  • Maintain the resilience and security of data pipelines, databases, and APIs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A strong academic background in computer science, mathematics, geography, or data science and analytics.
  • Experience with data governance principles and metadata management.
  • Proficiency in data transformation/integration engines such as SSIS or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and database technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
