This role offers a fantastic opportunity to become part of a friendly and nurturing team located in a vibrant community, easily accessible by various transportation options.
Our practice is a progressive training facility with a patient base of 14,000, maintaining strong connections within the community and the primary care network, ensuring we remain at the forefront of healthcare delivery.
We prioritize education, training, and mentorship within our team.
Our team comprises enthusiastic GP partners, salaried GPs, GP Registrars, practice nurses, and healthcare assistants, along with exceptional support staff.
Key Responsibilities
The following outlines the primary duties of the Patient Care Support Specialist. Additional tasks may be assigned based on workload and staffing needs:
- Non-complex wound care and dressing changes
- Stitch removal
- Conducting NHS health assessments, weight monitoring, and chronic condition management, including diabetic foot examinations
- Offering lifestyle guidance to patients and making necessary referrals
- Performing ECGs
- Carrying out phlebotomy
- Administering B12 injections under signed protocols by GPs
- Providing annual influenza and pneumonia vaccinations under signed protocols (training available)
- Conducting urine dipstick tests
- Monitoring blood pressure, including 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure assessments
- Administering injections, including B12, within the scope of training
- Developing care plans
- Restocking clinical areas and maintaining cleanliness
- Ordering and managing clinical supplies

Additional Responsibilities
In addition to the aforementioned duties, the successful candidate may be required to:
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion when appropriate
- Engage in practice audits as directed by the audit lead
- Participate in local initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery and patient care
- Ensure proper disposal of clinical waste and replacement of sharps bins in accordance with the organization's infection prevention and control policy
- Support and engage in shared learning within the organization
Qualifications
Essential
- Experience working in a GP practice is essential
Desirable
- Certification in phlebotomy
- Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4)
