Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Drama Development Producer to join our team at ITV Studios. As a key member of our TV drama development team, you will be responsible for leading and driving the development of new projects, working closely with our Executive Producers and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Development: Lead on and drive specific projects on our development slate, delivering scripts and pitches to the highest possible standard.
  • Storylining Sessions: Independently run storylining sessions as required.
  • Support to Executive Producers: Provide support to the EPs on projects across the slate, as needed, through research, shaping treatments, and developing written and verbal pitches.
  • Material Sourcing: Source and read books and other material with a view to optioning, writing reports as needed, and responding to agented scripts.
  • Idea Generation: Generate new ideas to brief from a variety of sources, finding supporting material as required.
  • Writer Attachments: Seek new material and drive the process of identifying suitable writers and attaching them to new projects.
  • Writer Relationships: Nurture key writer relationships with a view to developing innovative new projects for our slate.
  • Talent Identification: Proactively identify emerging talent, including writers, directors, performers, comedians, and filmmakers, by attending the theatre, film screenings, etc.
  • Project Planning: Proactively plan ahead for production and generate project-specific lists for possible directors and cast, as well as creating writing schedules.
  • Pitch Meetings: Attend pitch meetings with broadcasters and provide assistance in preparation for these meetings.
  • Commissioning Landscape: Maintain a keen awareness of the commissioning landscape.
  • Team Collaboration: Attend and contribute to weekly Development Meetings, and maintain regular communication with key company executives.
  • Finance and BA: Liaise with the Finance and BA teams regarding deals and invoices for existing and new projects, and work alongside them to create development budgets for potential projects.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience in developing projects at a senior level at a TV drama production company at either Development Executive or Story Producer level.
  • Confidence and Experience: Confidence and experience in proactively developing and driving multiple projects at varying stages of development autonomously and to the highest possible standard.
  • Personal and Communication Skills: Excellent personal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Industry Knowledge: Sound understanding of the broadcasting industry and international TV & Film landscape.
  • Talent Relationships: Excellent talent, agent, and commissioner relationships.
  • Business Affairs: Familiarity with Business Affairs.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work co-operatively with others as part of a team and build and maintain effective working relationships with the whole range of colleagues.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: An awareness and interest in promoting diversity in all aspects of our projects and productions.
