Job Overview

An excellent opportunity has emerged for a committed and enthusiastic Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to join our Pediatric Continence and Enuresis service.

The Assistant Practitioner will be responsible for delivering high-quality care and implementing evidence-based interventions. This role involves a variety of practical care tasks, where the practitioner will take appropriate actions to meet the planned goals and objectives of individual clients in both home and clinic settings, working independently and being accountable for the quality of the delegated responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities

The Assistant Practitioner will serve as a role model within the team, providing care grounded in evidence-based practices. The role includes supporting clinic operations and demonstrating clinical competence, making it an ideal position for those looking to enhance their professional skills.

Successful candidates should possess:

  • Experience in the Pediatric Continence and Enuresis service
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, along with relevant experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and address the specific physical, emotional, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of service users and their families.
  • Manage and prioritize your workload as directed by the Team Leader or Service Clinical Manager.
  • Accept delegated assessment responsibilities to meet the immediate and ongoing needs of service users and their families.
  • Participate in care delivery as prescribed by qualified practitioners.

Daily tasks may include:

  • Reassessing continence products.
  • Conducting enuresis review clinics under delegation.
  • Teaching and supporting children and families in toilet training.

This list is not exhaustive, and additional competencies may be included:

  • Educating patients and caregivers under the indirect supervision of a registered practitioner.
  • Evaluating patient progress and discussing findings with senior clinicians as necessary.
  • Identifying and addressing issues related to medication compliance.
  • Assisting with product re-assessments and orders to ensure safety and relevance.
  • Demonstrating the correct use of products to enhance client independence.
  • Contributing to service development and improvement initiatives.
  • Participating in clinical audits and service enhancements.
  • Maintaining quality of care in accordance with established standards.
  • Engaging in professional development and appraisal processes.
  • Keeping accurate and current records as per professional standards.
  • Completing any other duties as requested by the line manager.
  • Assessing clinical risks as part of routine practice.
  • Building relationships across care settings to promote seamless service delivery.
  • Participating in team meetings for effective communication and planning.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, along with relevant experience.
  • Experience in clinical care programs and health promotion.
  • Experience working with children with health needs.
  • Ability to work independently and utilize resources effectively.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a Bladder and Bowel setting.
